Viva Vocals is a fun and friendly female voices community choir. There are no auditions, but we all aim to make a great noise! We are led by musical director John Sandford, and accompanied by our amazing pianist Michelle Howarth. Our strapline is ‘sing yourself happy’ – that’s what we aim to achieve at each practice and concert.
When and where do we meet?
Tuesday evenings, 8 – 9pm during term time
The Tippett Room at Springfield Community Campus in Corsham. (To find the room – turn left at reception and follow the corridor past the climbing wall. The Tippett Room is the last door on the right).
What do we sing?
We sing a range of music – anything from Joni Mitchell to Katy Perry, with a few originals from John, too. Most of our arrangements are split across four voice parts: two soprano sections and two alto parts. Why not listen to samples from previous performances here to get a flavour for what we do?
When do you perform?
We perform at a few local concerts each year. This often gives us the opportunity to raise money for charities and gives us something to work towards. It’s great to have the opportunity to show what we’ve learnt during the year!
How much does it cost?
Membership costs £18 per month, and most members pay monthly via PayPal subscription. The fee covers John and Michelle’s time, room hire and music licences.
Are you accepting new members?
Yes, we’re always happy for new members to join us!
What can I expect from a taster?
Once you’ve signed up for your taster session, we’ll email you with details. The entire choir will be learning a new song together, which is always good fun!
Do I have to pay for a taster?
No, our taster sessions are free! If you decide you wish to join us, we will provide you with joining details.
When is the next taster?
Our bespoke taster sessions are at the start of each term, but if you can’t wait that long, you can always visit a standard rehearsal.
